Keyword search answers a different question from abstract matching, and there are times it is the right one. Before a study is written, when you want to know which journals are publishing most in an area, or when you are checking whether a subfield has a natural home, the keywords are the query. The limitation is worth naming: keywords describe a topic, not a design or a claim, so the results will include journals that publish on your subject but would never accept your kind of paper. Treat it as a map of the area rather than a shortlist.
When is keyword search better than abstract matching?

Why do the results include journals that would reject me?
Keywords carry topic but not design. A journal can publish extensively on your subject and still take only one kind of study.
How many keywords should I use?
Three to five that a paper in the area would actually carry. Very broad terms return the large generalist journals and little else.
