The impact of remittances on economic Growth:

This study aims to analyze the impact of remittances on the economies of Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, and Mauritania. By utilizing cointegration tests (Pedroni, Kao, and Johansen) and causality tests, the relationship between remittances and GDP in these countries was assessed over the period from 1975 to 2023. The results showed a cointegration relationship between the variables in all countries, with varying degrees of benefit derived from remittances. While Morocco and Tunisia benefited more from these remittances due to economic policies and relative political stability, Algeria and Mauritania faced structural challenges that hindered full utilization of these funds. The causality tests also revealed a causal relationship between remittances and GDP in some countries, emphasizing the importance of improving the economic environment to channel these remittances into productive investments.
