Abstract

Ensuring consistent product quality in the salt packaging process is critical to maintaining consumer trust and regulatory compliance. This study proposes a systematic approach to quality control by implementing Fuzzy FMEA to identify, evaluate, and prioritise potential failure modes in the salt packaging process. Key process steps were analysed, and failure modes were assessed using three risk factors. Linguistic variables were converted into fuzzy numbers, and a defuzzification process was applied to determine the RPN for each failure mode. The results revealed that the most critical point is Product distribution, with the highest FRPN of 159, requiring immediate attention to ensure product consistency, regulatory compliance, and consumer trust. By adopting Fuzzy FMEA, the study provides a robust framework for proactive quality control and continuous process improvement. The findings contribute to industrial best practices and can be extended to similar applications in the food packaging industry.
