Abstract
The American Community College plays an important role in the landscape of higher education and is portrayed as an institution offering affordable access to students who may otherwise be excluded from advanced formal instruction. These two-year colleges have a long history aligned with criminal justice curriculum through their academic and vocational programs. This essay chronicles the significant milestones of these institutions and illustrates how degrees in criminal justice continue to be a valuable credential that meets the needs of future and current professionals in the fields of policing, corrections, and the courts.
