Abstract

This letter proposes a cross-band decoupled tri-band base station antenna array with wideband radiation and dual-band electromagnetic transparency characteristics. The low-band (LB) antenna is constructed by a miniaturized frequency selective surface (FSS) with a dual-band high transmission property, whose external contour is defined by the shape of a strip-dipole. Together with the dual-band radiating HB antenna elements, experiment results demonstrate that the tri-band antenna array achieves wideband electromagnetic radiation of 630-1250 MHz (66.0%), as well as dual-band electromagnetic transmission of 3.3-3.8 GHz (14.1%) and 4.8-5.0 GHz (4.1%), restoring the distorted radiation patterns of the high-band (HB) antenna elements caused by cross-band coupling in tri-band base station antenna array.
