Abstract

The article presents a comprehensive analysis of the lexical-semantic and stylistic aspects of translating English economic terminology into Ukrainian based on financial and economic documentation. The relevance of the study is determined by the growing volume of economic texts requiring translation in the context of globalization, as well as by the need to ensure terminological accuracy and stylistic adequacy in official and business discourse. The focus of the research is on the functioning of economic terms, their semantic structure, formal and structural characteristics, and the specific features of their rendering into Ukrainian.

The study reveals that a significant proportion of English economic terms are unambiguous within a specialized context and are translated using established equivalents, which ensures terminological consistency and stability in translation. At the same time, polysemous terms pose the main translation challenge, as their adequate rendering requires careful consideration of context, genre-specific features of the document, and its functional purpose. The article analyzes formal and structural transformations caused by the analytical nature of the English language, specifically the processes of compression and expansion of terminological units in translation.

Special attention is paid to the analysis of translation transformations, among which calque and equivalent translation prove to be the most frequent, while concretization and transcoding are less common but functionally significant. The stylistic analysis confirms that adherence to the norms of official and business style is a prerequisite for the adequate translation of economic terminology. The study concludes that an integrated approach to translating economic terms, combining semantic, structural, and stylistic analysis, is both necessary and effective.
