Abstract

Abstract Professor Angela Bracco’s impact on our understanding of electric dipole oscillations at finite temperatures is so significant that it would be impossible to encapsulate it within a single paper. In this publication, I will attempt only to provide some perspective on her achievements by presenting three examples, obtained using the HECTOR multi-detector array for high-energy gamma rays, from my long-standing collaboration with Angela, namely on the evolution of the effective Giant Dipole Resonance (GDR) width with angular momentum and temperature, the nuclear Jacobi shape transition, and the GDR in fissioning superheavy nuclei.
