Resumen

Traceability in supply chains is increasingly essential for addressing overproduction, ethical compliance and operational efficiency in the fashion and textiles industry. Blockchain technology offers a promising means to enhance transparency and accountability. This study examines barriers and drivers to blockchain adoption in the Australian fashion sector through a predominantly qualitative approach, incorporating 97 survey responses and 15 in-depth interviews with key stakeholders. Analysis across technological, organisational and environmental dimensions reveals generally low awareness and limited understanding among industry professionals, alongside recognition of potential benefits. These findings highlight the complexity of adoption and the need for targeted strategies to promote sustainability and innovation. Strategic integration of blockchain technology can advance transparency, operational efficiency and ethical standards, positioning Australian fashion and textile enterprises to address contemporary industry challenges.
