New Records of Freshwater Algae to Kerala from Wayanad, Western Ghats, India

An algal exploration in the green paradise of Kerala State, Wayanad resulted in the identification of 113 new algal records to Kerala. The study, conducted between April 2019 and June 2021, during which 126 algal samples were collected from different locations within this high-altitude district. The findings included 8 Chlorococcales, 33 desmids, 65 diatoms, 6 from Euglenophyceae and one from Cyanophyceae. This investigation is the first algal exploration in Wayanad and denote that the district is diverse in algae.
