El reconocimiento internacional del gobierno talibán. Dilemas de legitimidad de un gobierno surgido de la insurgencia

In recent years, various groups characterised by extreme violence have succeeded in seizing political power in the states in which they have been fighting. This development raises significant questions about the recognition of governments constituted by force and practices contrary to international humanitarian law, with the attendant risk of legitimising access to power through such means. This article aims to examine how the signing of the Agreement for Bringing Peace to Afghanistan between the United States and the Taliban movement has affected the international legitimacy of the insurgent group, despite the absence of official recognition. The analysis suggests that, although there is not de jure recognition of the Taliban government, pragmatism tends to prevail in the configuration of a de facto international recognition of the Taliban authorities in Afghanistan.
