Abstract

This paper proposes a sensorless control strategy for Mono-Inverter Multi-PMSM (MIMPMSM) systems, aimed at reducing system cost and complexity without compromising performance. Building on a previously validated framework based on Maximum Torque Per Ampere (MTPA) optimization, the approach extends the whole control algorithm to operate without rotor position sensors. A full-order back-EMF observer, coupled with an adaptive phase-locked loop (PLL), is employed to estimate rotor position and speed in real time. The proposed method is validated through simulations on a three-motor platform, considering various operating scenarios and control strategies. Comparative results demonstrate that the sensorless approach achieves performance levels comparable to the sensored counterpart, while significantly simplifying system architecture.
