Cuba en el corazón. Mylene Fernández Pintado

This article examines the processes of safeguarding a culture in a territory where changes occur due to the impact of new elements in a process of hybridization. Cuba's history is characterized by the arrival of multiple peoples who, since the fifteenth century, have displaced the original populations. The endemic mestizaje of its national identity, further defined by a diaspora representing more than 20% of the population – more than two million of whom live in the United States – shapes this world. Mylene Fernández Pintado’s Un largo adiós illustrates this process.
