Biologiczna ochrona roślin – jak 75 lat badań w Instytucie Ochrony Roślin – Państwowym Instytucie Badawczym kształtowało jej przyszłość

Biological plant protection is currently one of the priorities of integrated plant protection. Since its inception, the Institute of Plant Protection – National Research Institute has conducted comprehensive research on the practical application of biological agents, such as viruses, bacteria, fungi, nematodes, and entomophages. The Institute’s achievements include the development of industrial technology and the implementation of the first biological agents in Poland based on the Bacillus thuringiensis bacterium and viruses, fungi, and nematodes for the protection of greenhouse and field crops, as well as edible mushrooms. The Institute’s achievements in biological plant protection research are presented, from the pioneering work in the 1950s on the biological control of the Colorado potato beetle to contemporary innovative solutions. The Institute’s over seventy years of experience today provide a solid foundation for the further development of biological plant protection in Poland and worldwide.
