Un texto recuperado de Manuel de León Marchante: la Jácara entremesada de Gargolla (con algunas calas interpretativas)

The article rescues and studies a dramatic text by Manuel de León Marchante, a Baroque writer who has not received much attention. The piece in concern is the "Jácara entremesada de Gargolla", a short play in which the ruffian Gargolla receives assistance from a doctor and a surgeon after being wounded by another ruffian in a duel. The introduction places the work in the context of dramatic "jácara", the genre to which the text under study belongs. The work then highlights the similarities between the play and Quevedo's poem "Postrimerías de un rufián" (El Parnaso español), which can be considered the archetype of León Marchante's "jácara". Attention is also paid to Calderón de la Barca's "Baile las jácaras, 2.ª parte", in which Gargolla and fragments of Quevedo's rufian poetry appear again. Finally, the essay edits the text with a modest apparatus of notes.
