Bone Marrow Edema on MRI: A Pattern-Based Educational Approach

Purpose or Learning Objective: Bone marrow edema (BME) is a frequently encountered but diagnostically non-specific finding on musculoskeletal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). In routine practice, interpretation can be challenging when marrow signal abnormality is assessed in isolation. Our objective was of this educational exhibit is to demonstrate a structured, imaging-based approach to BME bone marrow edema that enables differentiation between self-limiting conditions and pathology requiring further investigation or urgent management.
