Personal data and discriminatory risks in smart mobility systems

Smart mobility systems promote efficient, safe, and sustainable transportation of goods and people through the use of AI and the Internet of Things, such as smart cars, smart roads, intelligent traffic controllers, and much more. They require constant and extensive data collection for their operation. This paper analyses the Italian-European regulatory landscape and relevant guidelines, and examines the risks of violation of privacy and discrimination associated with the algorithmic processing of such extensive information as that collected by smart mobility systems.
