Nomenclatural Clarifications Regarding Neuropteris, N. elegans, Saccoloma, and S. elegans, plus Notes on Saccoloma (Saccolomataceae) from the Guianas

We present nomenclatural clarifications and updated type information on the names Neuropteris, N. elegans, Saccoloma, and S. elegans. Neuropteris is a synonym of Saccoloma, and N. elegans is a synonym of S. chartaceum. Although N. elegans and S. elegans bear the same epithet, both names are unrelated, and each has its own type specimen(s). We present the updated nomenclatural paragraph of Saccoloma, S. chartaceum, and S. elegans. We also present a current synopsis of Saccoloma from the Guianas, in which we record S. chartaceum, S. hieronymi, and S. inaequale occurring there.
