[The role of play in pediatric hematology: lessons learned from the Étoile program].

Game-based learning is increasingly being used in vocational training programs. Its benefits have also proven applicable in health education settings for young patients. Viewed as an enjoyable experience, play offers numerous benefits to participants by empowering them to take an active role in their training and by facilitating their learning. This is why gamified learning is being incorporated into therapeutic education programs, where the goal is to enable participants to acquire self-care and coping skills to improve their quality of life despite their chronic condition. In this regard, the pediatric hematology care pathway at Robert-Debré Hospital in Paris has been enhanced since 2020 by offering such a program to patients and their caregivers.
