Abstract

Dairy farms play a vital role in Egypt's economy, contributing considerably to food security, employment, and rural development. They face severe challenges from enteric bacteria, such as Escherichia coli, Salmonella, and Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus). These bacteria cause major health impacts and productivity losses in cattle, as they pose a potential hazard to human health. This study presents information regarding the prevalence and pathogenicity of these bacteria in dairy farming environments, emphasizing the urgency of implementing effective control measures. Special attention is given to recent technological advancements in disinfection strategies, especially the development and application of nanoparticle-based formulations. The study highlights how silver and chitosan nanoparticles have promising antibacterial properties, especially when combined with substances like iodine or hydrogen peroxide. These mixtures improved efficacy and broad-spectrum activity, indicating they could be safe and more effective substitutes for the traditional chemical disinfectants used in the livestock industry.
