La geografía literaria de tres relatos de viaje en relación con el realismo social en España

As a result of the study of three representative texts of the social realism of the mid-century generation (Viaje a la Alcarria, Campos de Níjar y Caminando por las Hurdes) for publication on the website specializing in travel literature littrack.com, methodologies of literary geography and georeferencing using geographic information systems (GIS) are applied to review the corpus formed by the works from a mainly quantitative rather than stylistic approach. Thus, the aim is to visualize the chronotopes of the three works on the map to generate models that allow comparing the towns visited by the authors, the cartography they carried, the time and pace invested in their travels, their dating, the means of transport used, and the characters mentioned. Relevant aspects of the texts will be revealed. For example, the analysis of the means of transport used in relation to the distances travelled shows that it was the authors of Caminando por las Hurdes who found a more socially disconnected and depressed literary space, as they found no other means of transport on their journey than a truck, in which they made a minimal fraction of their trip. This thesis is also supported by the analysis of the characters mentioned, as it is Ferres and López who seem to move in a more self-contained region, as the fraction of outsiders mentioned in relation to locals is much smaller than in the other two texts.
