Abstract

This study aims to provide a structured and quantitative overview of the evolution of scientific research on cost reduction in logistics storage. Through a bibliometric analysis, it identifies key trends, theoretical frameworks, leading authors, institutions, countries, and prevailing thematic areas, as well as gaps in the existing literature. The research adopts a quantitative approach, utilizing the Web of Science database (1980–2024) and the VOSviewer software for data processing and visualization. A total of 7,066 articles were selected, covering disciplines such as engineering, logistics, management, and environmental sciences. The analysis combines performance metrics (number of publications, citations, and h-index) with scientific mapping techniques (co-citation, co-authorship, and keyword co-occurrence). The findings reveal a steady growth in scientific output since 2010, peaking in 2024. The United States, China, and Germany emerge as the most prolific and impactful countries in this research area. The most influential studies focus on the application of emerging technologies including blockchain, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things, as well as strategies related to automation, sustainability, and inventory optimization. Keyword co-occurrence maps highlight thematic clusters centered on operational efficiency, technological innovation, and environmental sustainability. The implications of the study emphasize the importance of integrating collaborative and digital approaches into logistics management, encouraging future research in areas such as reverse logistics, cold chain systems, and circular economy models.
