Abstract
The taxonomy of the Nearctic Catocala amica (Hübner) species complex is examined, revealing a total of four species. Catocala pinicola sp. nov. is described as new, and observations on the life histories of all species are presented. Diagnostic characters for the four species are provided. Type specimens are reassessed, and the publication history of the species complex is reviewed, with the designation of a neotype for C. amica to promote stability in the genus.
