Abstract

We studied what kind of support needs student teachers have in higher education. A total of 769 student teachers responded to a questionnaire in 2018 and 2022, and 90 of them specified their support needs during their higher education. The most common needs were related to pedagogical and psychological accessibility: students hoped for versatile teaching methods and encouragement from teachers. The results indicate that teacher education should focus on accessibility and support to ensure that all students receive the support they need and are included.
