Retrospective Analysis of SARS CoV-2 PCR Results Obtained Between 2020-2022 at “St. Sofia” Medical Center and Hospital

In response to the global health emergency declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) due to the COVID-19 pandemic between 2020 and 2022, RT-PCR testing for SARS-CoV-2 was conducted at the PCR Laboratory of the “St. Sofia” Medical Center and General Hospital in Sofia, Bulgaria. Patients of various age groups and both sexes were tested. During the study period (2020–2022), the highest number of RT-PCR-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 cases was recorded in 2021. The results indicated an approximately equal male-to-female ratio, with higher positivity rates observed among older age groups. These findings are consistent with previously published data for the Sofia city region during the same period. No significant differences were observed between vaccine types in terms of protection, as the proportion of SARS-CoV- 2-positive individuals was similar across vaccination groups.
