Bienestar personal y factores clínicos y psicosociales en personas en hemodiálisis: estudio observacional transversal

Introduction: Chronic kidney disease has a significant impact on psychosocial well-being. In haemodialysis, the chronic nature of the disease and dependence on treatment increase emotional vulnerability. The aim was to analyse the level of personal well-being in people on haemodialysis and its relationship with sociodemographic and clinical variables, as well as dialysis adequacy.Material and Method: Descriptive, cross-sectional, singlecentre observational study conducted at Hospital Universitario de la Princesa (from October 2024 through January 2025).The Personal Wellbeing Index and Russell’s circumplex model were used. Sociodemographic, clinical, and analytical data were collected. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSSv.28.0.Results: Of the 50 participants, 66% were men and had a mean age of 74±12 years. The mean Personal Wellbeing Index score was 45±12 points (moderate–high), with personal relationships being among the most highly rated (8 ± 2 points). A low-magnitude positive correlation was observed between age and the Personal Wellbeing Index (r=0.17; P=0.003). The prevalence of malnutrition was 70%, with a median Charlson Comorbidity Index of 9 points (IQR, 7–11) and functional dependence of 52%. The Personal Wellbeing Index showed no significant association with clinical, analytical, or dialysis adequacy variables.Conclusions: Personal well-being in people on haemodialysis is associated with advanced age and sociofamily support. Multicentre studies are required to evaluate psychosocial well-being as a clinical indicator of quality of care.
