ZOONOTIC PARASITES OF OLD AND NEW WORLD MONKEYS: A REVIEW

Generally, the wildlife health assessments help in identifying populations at risk of starvation,vector-borne infectious diseases, declining from anthropogenic impacts on natural habitats. A zoonoticdisease is a disease or infection transmitted naturally from vertebrate animals to man, withmore than 60% of human pathogens are zoonotic ones. Pets make families, communities and evenhumans' health and happier. Studies showed those pets' owners, or even having contact with animals,benefit their physical, social and mental health. Nevertheless, many zoonotic diseases andarthropod-vector are risky to their owners, particularly children. This article reviewed several conceptsthat have taken shape in recent decades and discuss how these apply to common patientconcerns with monkeys.
