Abstract

Periodontal disease is highly prevalent worldwide, yet its burden and public health significance remain underestimated. In the current era, the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in dental health, particularly in periodontology, is poised to revolutionize diagnosis, treatment planning, and ultimately the management of periodontal disease. The aim of this narrative literature review is to explore how AI can improve clinical decision-making in periodontology and support personalized patient care. Specifically, it addresses the question: “How can AI be effectively integrated into periodontal practice to improve diagnosis, risk assessment, treatment planning, and patient care?”
