Abstract

<p> We give closed formulas for the abelian Galois cohomology groups <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> H ab 1 ( F , G ) H^1_{\operatorname {ab}}(F,G) </inline-formula> and <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> H ab 2 ( F , G ) H^2_{\operatorname {ab}}(F,G) </inline-formula> of a connected reductive group <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> G G </inline-formula> over a global field <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> F F </inline-formula> in terms of the algebraic fundamental group <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> π 1 ( G ) \pi _1(G) </inline-formula> introduced earlier by one of us (M.B.).
