Abstract

We report a mass mortality of Chauliognathus marginatus caused by a putative Eryniopsis lampyridarum infection in Everglades National Park, Florida – the first tropical and probable southernmost record of this fungus. A targeted review of 16,548 iNaturalist Chauliognathus observations revealed additional undocumented infections in Mexico, underscoring the value of community science for detecting cryptic disease events.
