Abstract
The study focused on the challenges related to teaching and learningClothing and Textiles for entrepreneurship in Ebonyi State UniversityAbakaliki. The purpose of the study sought to determine challenges relatedto students, lecturers and physical/instructional facilities in teaching andlearning clothing and textiles. The study adopted descriptive survey design.Three (3) research questions guided the study. The population of the studycomprised all the six (6) lecturers and all the forty two clothing and textilesstudents in the Home Economies department of Ebonyi State UniversityThere was no sampling because of small population size. Questionnaire wasused to collect data. Data were analyzed with mean statistic. Nine studentschallenges were identified to include poor and irregular attendance to lectureamong others. Six (6) lecturers related challenges were identified to includelack of clothing and textiles lecturers, using lecturers who are notprofessionals to lecturer the course among others. Ten physical/instructionalfacilities were identified to include; lack of labouratories computer softwareamong others. Recommendations include that students should be re-directedto develop interest on clothing and textiles for entrepreneurship trades,university management should employ more professional lecturers inclothing and textiles among others.
