Abstract
The sixtieth anniversary of the publication of Cesare Brandi’s of Restoration Theory, (1963) and the twenty-year anniversary of the publication of the translation into Portuguese by Professor Beatriz Mugayar Kühl (2004) have prompted numerous reflections on that seminal text, including the Seminar RESTORATION PRESENT AND FUTURE, REFLECTIONS FROM THE BRANDIAN THEORY. This article, which is based on the presentation of the same title at the aforementioned event, seeks to reflect on some of the issues raised in the chapter on Preventive Restoration, bringing some developments in the field of preventive conservation in recent decades to contextualize Brazilian production since the late 1990s. We present the research group Preventive Conservation of Historic Buildings and Sites, which has developed research related to the main preventive actions for the preservation of Cultural Heritage, with the aim of broadening discussions on the subject.
