K etymologizování vlastních jmen v etymologických slovnících

The article examines the extent to which proper names are included and treated in etymological dictionaries. It focuses on etymological dictionaries of selected Indo- -European languages, with particular attention given to those of Slavic languages, especially Czech and Old Church Slavonic. It deals in more detail with Václav Machek’s approach to the etymologization of proper names. The core of the study is a description of the selection, the method of processing propria and their interpretation in the Etymological Dictionary of the Old Church Slavonic Language.
