Abstract

By the method of thermogravimetry was used to study the oxidation kinetics of AlFe5Si10 aluminum alloy alloyed with up to 3.0% (wt.) by gallium. It was shown that the addition of gallium to the alloy and an increase in temperature increase the oxidation rate of the original alloy in the solid state. The apparent activation energy for the oxidation process of the AlFe5Si10 alloy is 178.0 kJ / mol and decreases to 147.9 kJ / mol for the alloy with 3.0% (wt.) gallium. The oxidation curves of the gallium-doped alloys in the solid state are described by polynomials, indicating a hyperbolic mechanism for this process. The mechanism of the influence of gallium on the oxidation of the aluminum alloy AlFe5Si10 has been established, which consists in the fact that gallium in the range of 0.05-3.0% (wt.) plays a dominant role in the formation of an oxide film characterized by not high protective properties.
