Marriages in the Grip of Phubbed: Dyadic Analysis of FoMO and Dyadic Adjustment

The purpose of this research is to examine actor and partner effects between FoMO, phubbed, and dyadic adjustment. The study consists of 300 heterosexual couples. The Actor-Partner Interdependence Model (APIM) was used in the model analysis. The results showed that actor effects between FoMO, phubbed, and dyadic adjustment were significant for both men and women. In actor and partner effects, the mediating effect of phubbed in the relationship between FoMO and dyadic adjustment was significant. These findings support the importance of considering couples’ relationship with technology as a dynamic system in order to increase dyadic adjustment in married couples.
