Abstract
The Kristeller Manoeuvre (KM) is the application of fundal uterine pressure associated with adverse consequences for the woman/foetus/newborn.1 An exploratory study was conducted. Objectives: identifying women who had experienced KM during childbirth and determining how their consent was obtained; assessing their knowledge about KM and understanding their experiences with KM. 84 participants reported having experienced KM during their first birth. The majority were neither informed in advance nor asked for consent. This practice is still in use and has a negative impact on childbirth experiences.
