Abstract
Abstract This study assessed the perceptions of library users regarding the ethical practices of librarians in Tanzanian academic libraries. Employing a structured questionnaire, the study gathered data from 329 students. The findings indicate a notable inconsistency in the ethical adherence of librarians. Although a substantial portion of the participants rated the ethical conduct of librarians favorably, a comparatively small segment pointed out that some librarians displayed unethical behavior. This observation is alarming given that even a small number of negative encounters can erode trust between librarians and their patrons while also diminishing overall users’ confidence in the library services.
