Abstract

Purpose. Despite the growing pertinence of cross-border collaborative journalism in academic discourse, there is a paucity of research exclusively centered on the examination of knowledge transfer in this field. This study aims to detect the existence of initiatives in this regard, promoted by European public authorities. Methodology. The sample is based on Journalism Partnerships, which is part of the Creative Europe (CREA) program, which was established with the objective of fostering growth in the cultural and creative sectors. Since its second phase, which began in 2021 and will conclude in 2027, it has represented the inaugural instance of a call for specific programs designed to facilitate the funding of initiatives that foster the establishment of partnerships and cooperation between media entities in Europe.  The proposed research is based on a mixed analysis sheet that integrates quantitative and qualitative aspects. Results and conclusions. A total of 36 projects were funded by Journalism Partnerships during its first four years. Of these, 12 cases of knowledge transfer have been identified, focusing on four main areas: strengthening the information industry, improving journalists' digital skills and consolidating innovation in newsrooms, promoting an organisational culture that facilitates the creation of common knowledge networks and centres and implementing new business models. Original contribution. This is the first study in scientific literature to examine the application of knowledge transfer to the domain of cross-border collaborative journalism.
