Abstract

BACKGROUND: This study evaluated the effectiveness of self-directed defibrillator training with immersive 360° extended reality for newly licensed nurses. METHOD: A concurrent mixed-methods design was used. Through convenience sampling 27 newly licensed nurses in South Korea were recruited. The participants underwent immersive 360° extended reality training, followed by self-directed practice. Quantitative data were analyzed, and the training experience was analyzed with qualitative content analysis. RESULTS: Attitudes toward nurse-led defibrillation and related knowledge improved significantly from pretraining to posttraining (p < .001). Defibrillation performance was assessed after training. Qualitative content analysis showed a positive immersive learning experience with some limitations. CONCLUSION: The findings highlight the effectiveness and educational benefits of combined immersive 360° extended reality training and self-directed practice.
