A new ant in Germany, Stenamma striatulum Emery, 1895 (Hymenoptera: Formicidae)

The ant Stenamma striatulum Emery, 1895 was found in Germany for the first time in April 2025 near Istein (Baden-Württemberg). Its habitat is a wooded area along a road, where a worker and a queen were discovered by sifting leaf litter. The occurrence of this species in Germany was to be expected after it had recently been found to be widespread north of the Alps in Switzerland. The possibility that S. striatulum is expanding its distribution range as a result of climate change is being discussed.
