Abstract

The paper presents a clinical case of a young patient with hepatic fasciolosis after antiparasitic therapy, endovascular embolization of the portal vein branch, and right hemihepatectomy. Detailed anamnesis, clinical picture, diagnostic search steps, as well as laboratory and instrumental results are described. Medical and surgical management is considered in detail. Due to the lack of specific clinical symptoms and complexity of differential diagnosis, hepatic fasciolosis is often diagnosed in advanced stages, which can lead to disability of patients in working age. Despite the rareness of surgery in this disease, the presented clinical case clearly demonstrates its danger making liver resection the only way to treat patients of this category. The description of the clinical case is supplemented with epidemiological data and literature review.
