Abstract
Gastric cancer (GC) is still the biggest factor in cancer-related death worldwide, and existing therapies have low therapeutic effectiveness. A possible cancer treatment target is ferroptosis, an iron-dependent kind of lipid peroxidation-induced regulated cell death. Recent studies further reveal that autophagy associated with ferroptosis modulates ferroptosis by regulating iron homeostasis, lipid metabolism, and redox balance. This review systematically describes the role of ferroptosis-related autophagy and ferroptosis in the pathogenesis and development of GC. We highlight key molecular mechanisms and propose ferroptosis-related biomarkers as potential diagnostic and therapeutic targets. Our findings underscore the translational potential of targeting ferroptosis-autophagy networks for GC treatment.
