Abstract

Aim: To compare the accuracy of diamond burs and single-sided diamond-coated strips in achieving planned IPR (Interproximal reduction) using 3D digital models and direct Vernier caliper measurements in patients requiring IPR (Interproximal reduction) as part of their orthodontic treatment. Second aim is to check the accuracy of various IPR gauzes.Material and Methods: Interproximal reduction was performed on 64 teeth (128 contact teeth). In around 22 teeth Interproximal reduction was performed by strip and in 42 teeth Interproximal reduction was performed with diamond burs. Before stripping, digital models were made by scanning intraorally by a 3 Shape trios’ scanner. IPR was performed with diamond burs, single-sided diamond-coated strips, Amount of implemented IPR was measured using digital vernier calliper. After IPR, digital models were made by scanning intraorally. Amount of implemented IPR with two different techniques pre and post scans was compared digitally using 3shape trios software. The results obtained by digital scanning and Vernier calliper was compared. This study also checks the accuracy of IPR gauges of various brands.Result: Results showed a statistically significant difference (p
