Abstract

The study investigates the potential of biodiesel as an alternative fuel to conventional diesel. Biodiesel, produced from vegetable oil through transesterification, offers a more sustainable and environmentally friendly option. While biodiesel shares similar physical and chemical properties with mineral diesel, modifications are necessary for optimal engine performance. This research focuses on developing biodiesel from groundnut oil and optimizing the transesterification process. Characterization of the produced biodiesel showed properties comparable to mineral diesel. Engine tests demonstrated improved performance with biodiesel. Additionally, the incorporation of nanoparticles into the biodiesel blend enhanced the performance and combustion characteristics, offering a promising solution for reducing fossil fuel dependence and environmental impact.
