Abstract
The aim of the study is to assess the level of population’s knowledge of the first aid procedure. Materials and methods. Materials of the study – normative legal acts of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation on this problem, materials of anonymous questionnaire survey of respondents without medical education. Research methods – general scientific research methods, analysis of the regulatory framework, statistical analysis, which included descriptive statistics, and univariate binary logistic regression analysis. Research results and their analysis. 21.4% of respondents are not ready to provide first aid, 27.5% – have no idea about the procedure of first aid provision, 28.8% – will use outdated methods of first aid provision and only 22.3% will provide first aid in accordance with modern international standards. It was concluded that at present, practical training of the population in first aid skills, on the one hand, increases its readiness to provide first aid, on the other hand, it contains irrelevant methods of providing it. The author proposes organizational and legal measures aimed at updating the regulatory legal framework, optimizing educational and methodological support, raising awareness and the necessary motivation of the population.
