Abstract
Global nuclear research aims to develop Generation IV nuclear systems focused on sustainability, economy, safety, and reliability as well as resistance to proliferation and physical protection. In this regard, the European Union opts for developing liquid metal (lead or sodium) or gas-cooled reactors. In Romania, the implementation of a lead-cooled reactor (ALFRED demonstrator) on the ICN platform is being considered, as it is promising due to the increased safety offered by lead. However, at high temperatures, lead can have a corrosive effect on structural materials, making it essential to control purity by monitoring dissolved oxygen. Thus, this paper presents the development of an application for measuring and controlling the concentration of dissolved oxygen in liquid lead and its integration into the command and data acquisition software of a mechanical testing machine in the liquid lead environment. Both the implementation process and the results of preliminary post-implementation tests are detailed.
