Abstract

This paper, based on 2024 annual IAEA-TERC-2024-01 Worldwide Proficiency Open Test Exercise, presents some improvements in radionuclide measurements using Liquid Scintillation Counting method and gamma spectrometry. An algorithm has been developed for the simultaneous determination of caesium-134 and strontium-90/yttrium-90 pair by Cherenkov counting on simulated contaminated surface samples. New improvements on radiochemical separations for Pb-210 determination by Liquid Scintillation Counting method are briefly described, some refinements in the attribution of certain results in gamma spectrometry, also a development of a gel-solution for the safe remote transport of liquid samples for gamma spectrometry analysis, are also presented.
