Abstract

The article addresses the topical issue of physical rehabilitation and socialization of persons with disabilities, analyzing two closely related yet independent areas: therapeutic physical culture (TPC) and adaptive physical culture (APC). The study presents a comprehensive examination of historical prerequisites, legal regulation, objectives, tasks, and qualification requirements for specialists working in these areas. A distinctive feature of the article is the clear definition of the boundary marking the transition of a patient from medical support within therapeutic physical culture to engaging in physical education and sports activities within adaptive physical culture. Special emphasis is placed on the significance of an individual rehabilitation program (IRP) and interdepartmental cooperation during this transition. For the first time, the authors conduct a detailed comparative analysis of regulatory and professional differences between TPC and APC, enabling a deeper understanding of the specifics of each specialization, their professional competencies, and areas of responsibility. The uniqueness of this review lies in its comprehensive consideration of an interdisciplinary approach that integrates medical, educational, and social aspects into a unified system of complex rehabilitation. The presented international experience highlights the benefits of a systematic approach to physical rehabilitation and sports adaptation of persons with disabilities, reinforcing the necessity of cooperation between medical and physical education communities. The article differs from similar publications not only through its detailed analysis of domestic legislation and professional standards but also through an in-depth examination of international practices, allowing for substantiated recommendations on creating a holistic rehabilitation model. It concludes by emphasizing the need to establish a continuous trajectory of physical rehabilitation, contributing to sustainable recovery of physical functions, improved quality of life, and successful socialization of persons with disabilities.
