Abstract

A technique for retrieving cement-retained implant restorations using viewing windows and 3-D-printed guides has been described. Computed tomography (CBCT), along with implant planning software, was used to identify the orientation of existing implants and guide fabrication. The design of these guides facilitates access in areas with limited inter-arch space and allows for adequate irrigation and visibility. It also offers interchangeability of rotary instruments depending on the prosthetic material to be accessed. A brief discussion about differing clinical situations is presented that may limit the use of similar techniques.
