A rare case of traumatic globe luxation following a road traffic accident

Traumatic globe luxation is a rare clinical entity. Most of these cases have associated trauma to eyeball, injury to extraocular muscles and optic nerve injuries. Apart from ocular injuries, associated facial and systemic injuries are also very common. Salvage of visual function and anatomical restoration depends on the extent of injury to eyeball, optic nerve, and intra-orbital structures. We report the case of globe luxation post a crush injury with a tractor tyre. This patient presented on the 4 th day following injury. He had associated multiple facial skeleton fractures, disinsertion of extraocular muscles, and complete avulsion of the optic nerve.
