Mahajan Ortho and Surgical Hospitals: automating surgeries using robotic process automation

The learning outcomes are as follows: Mahajan Ortho and Surgical Hospitals pioneered the use of robotic-assisted surgeries in India. It is a small hospital located in Nagpur, an upcoming metropolis in Central India. Dr. Mahajan was academically proficient and thus entered the field of medical education and trained in the UK for 8 years in orthopedics. He returned from the UK after the 9/11 attacks to serve Indian citizens and started a small orthopedic hospital in Nagpur. His use of robotic-assisted surgery became a successful case among patients and doctors. The case describes the journey of Dr. Mahajan and his hospital with robotic-assisted surgery. This case is best taught as part of a curriculum in Management Programs at the post-graduate level, in courses like management information systems, health-care management and technology entrepreneurship. This case also best fits short-term and long-term management development programs for technology-driven health care.
